Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

Extension: refers to Guitar Chord Tab Finder, the Chrome browser extension described in this document.
Device: means any device that can access the Extension such as a computer or laptop running the Chrome browser.
Personal Data: is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
Sync Storage: refers to Chrome's built-in sync storage used by the Extension to save your preferences locally on your Device. This data may be synced across your Chrome profile by Chrome's own sync service.
You: refers to the individual accessing or using the Extension.

Data Collection

We Do Not Collect Personal Data

Guitar Chord Tab Finder does not collect, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information. The Extension operates entirely within your browser and does not communicate with any external servers owned or operated by us.

Settings Stored Locally

The Extension stores the following data using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync API. This data is managed by Chrome and never sent to our servers:

Preferred chord sites — which chord websites are enabled and their display order.
Default site — the chord website selected to load automatically when a new song is detected.
Auto-click preference — whether the Extension should automatically navigate to the first chord result.

Required Permissions

Guitar Chord Tab Finder requests the following browser permissions. Each permission is used solely to provide the chord-finding functionality:

storage: to save your preferences (preferred chord sites, auto-click toggle, default site) across sessions.
tabs: to detect which tab is active on YouTube, open chord pages in background tabs, and manage tab lifecycle for the auto-click feature.
scripting: to extract the first search result link from chord site search pages for the auto-click feature.
sidePanel: to display chord pages in Chrome's Side Panel alongside the YouTube video.
Host permissions (YouTube & chord sites): the Extension only runs on YouTube, YouTube Music, and the explicitly listed chord websites. No other websites are accessed.

Supported Websites

The Extension is currently configured to operate on the following websites only:

youtube.com — song detection source
music.youtube.com — song detection source
chordtabs.in.th — chord search target
dochord.com — chord search target
chordzaa.com — chord search target

The Extension does not run on any other websites.

How the Extension Works

When you watch a video on YouTube or YouTube Music, Guitar Chord Tab Finder:

Reads the song title and artist name displayed on the page.
Searches for the corresponding chord tab on your selected chord website.
Opens the chord page in Chrome's Side Panel so you can read chords while watching the video.
Optionally auto-clicks the first search result to load the chord page directly.

All processing happens locally within your browser. No song titles, URLs, or personal information are sent to any server operated by us.

Third-Party Services

Guitar Chord Tab Finder does not integrate with, or send data to, any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The Extension has no backend server and makes no outbound network requests to servers we operate. Searches are performed directly on the third-party chord websites you select.

Security

Because Guitar Chord Tab Finder stores all data locally on your Device and does not transmit any information to our servers, the security of your data is governed by your browser and operating system security settings. We do not have access to any data stored by the Extension.

Children's Privacy

Guitar Chord Tab Finder does not address anyone under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The Extension does not collect personal data from users of any age.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly when new chord websites are added to the Extension or when new features are introduced. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date at the top.

Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
